Re: Zoom does not install

If this is for a personal system, I would encourage trying out the Flatpak version of Zoom. The RPM zoom doesn’t have a repo (unless I’ve severely missed it) and can’t update natively, so you end up just downloading the RPM over and over for each update. I’ve been using the Flatpak version for FlatH...

Re: CentOS update gap

What movement there could be now? The 8.2 is already released (that page says correctly: "Done") and 8.3 cannot become a topic before RHEL 8.3 appears. If I were to take a guess, sources for 8.3 should be arriving sometime over the next week or so. I just got my RHEL 8.3 packages available yesterda...

Re: AMD GPU driver installation issue and problems playing .mov files

To give your account sudo access, run the following as root, then log out and log back in: usermod -a -G wheel your_username You likely can’t play a mov food as you don’t have the necessary codecs utilized by the video. Unfortunately, Red Hat doesn’t ship certain proprietary codes due to licensing a...

Re: Virtualization limits for CentOS with KVM

There’s a misunderstanding here. The four VM limit is a contractual license agreement for RHEL, and RHEL only. Running more than four virtual machines would break the support agreement with Red Hat (applicable to RHEL Server and Workstation). It is not a physical/software limitation. This does not ap...

Re: [SOLVED] Nvidia drivers installation issues

This bug is fixed in the latest SELinux package in 8.2 as of last week.

https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2020:3655

selinux-policy-3.14.3-41.el8_2.6.noarch.rpm

CentOS has el8_2.5 rolled out, I would expect 2.6 coming soon.

Cheers,
Mike

Re: #gcc #nvidia #nvidia490 #centos8

We'd also recommend using the kmod-nvidia packages from the ELRepo third party yum repo to install those nvidia proprietary drivers. Install their nvidia-detect package, run it and it will tell you which of their packages supports your card. Presently these are in elrepo-testing , there’s an issue ...

Re: Each boot creates duplicate UEFI entry

I'm making a RHEL Bugzilla report on this, I'm seeing it in RHEL 8.1 as well.

Re: How to run a Centos Stream kernel on a Centos 8 distro?

Can you report the results of following? I don't know the prexisting steps you've taken so far. # as root $ systemctl set-default multi-user.target && reboot # make sure you boot into the 147 kernel $ dnf install epel-release $ dnf install kernel-devel-$(uname -r) kernel-headers-$(uname -r) gcc libg...

Re: How to run a Centos Stream kernel on a Centos 8 distro?

I can't speak to VBox setups as I don't use it. Hopefully I can help with the NVIDIA driver setup. When installing the NVIDIA driver through the .run file, you'll need a few things first. The big primary one is dkms, which is available in the EPEL repository. I would also recommend installing the li...
